This post was created as a challenge from the 31DBBB Problogger Challenge
First I thought that I would complete a list post about my 5 favourite Generation Y blogs, but I have realised that this is kind of a cop out. The list below is my top 5 favourite blog posts to date. I havn’t ranked them in any particular order because that would be waaaaayy to hard! I will give a little background on the blogger and then the blog post itself.
The blogs that these posts can be found on are:
My friend Anton recently discovered and put me on to an awesome series of spoken word animations by a guy called Levni Yilmaz. They’re beautifully written and animated, I havn’t watched them all but he first one I watched was the best!
This is a video blog by Levni Yilmaz the post called “Youth and Aging” really caught my eye. I was put onto this by my friend Anton, this post outlines the thought differences between different ages, truth hurts people!
Jun is the CMO of Future Delivery, but I’m am linking to his personal blog. His personal blog documents his path through his startup life.
This post is his latest one, “Which would you choose: Work vs Family”. Jun is really struggling with his burning ambition to do something awesome he says “I WANT to become a successful entrepreneur and rule the world”
Jamie made her name as the person behind twittershouldhireme.com her about page sums her up perfectly
“She is known throughout the internet for taking unconventional risks with both her personal life and career. When she created tshm.com, it inspired thousands of people and changed the rules for job hunting. Since the creation of tshm.com, there have been several copycat sites and an extensive array of press mentions pertaining to the campaign. To Jamie, tshm.com was a message of hope, audacity, and inspiration.”
My favourite post of hers was published over at Penelope Trunk’s Brazen Carrerist blog, “Twentysomething: Why it’s smart to quit a job after just two weeks of work”.
Jamie explains why it is not a bad thing if you quit your job after two weeks because you absolutely hate it! The best part of this is the absolute venom she received from some of the commenter’s. The post itself is great, but the controversy it created is why this is one of my favourites.
Cody founded Thrilling Heroics in 2006 to encourage twentysomethings and others to pursue an unorthodox, exciting lifestyle and career. He is a web designer and writer.
His post about “facing reality and learning lessons from Travel” really underlined why people need to travel outside of their countries and comfort zones to open their eyes up to different ways of thinking and especially to acknowledge some of the atrocities that have happened in the past. In doing so hopefully the world will be able to avoid creating the same atrocities again.
Jonathan is an aspiring Life Coach of sorts, his writing comes from the heart and if you read his story, his life has turned around in the last couple of years!
His post “If its a good Idea, don’t do it” outlines why you shouldn’t continue on a path because it’s “a good idea”. He goes on to explain that if you go through the motions, your best work will not follow. Jonathan then explains some actions to take to reignite your passion to get you really going!
I hope you enjoy these blogs, and answer me this: What are your favourite blog posts?

Twitter Updates
Wow, thank you so much for including me on this list. I work hard every single day to provide valuable posts to my readers, and when I see a post like this, it truly brings a smile to my heart.
I’m personally friends with Jamie, Cody, and Jonathan, but not yet with Anton. I’ll definitely be reaching out to him.

Thanks for the comment Jun, all of you guys on the list have had a huge impact on my blogging life even though it has been a short one!
I surfed over from the 31 Day challenge and I love that you did this type of list post – how very thoughtful of you and I’m really enjoying the blogs & blog posts you recommended (as well as yours).
One of these days, I hope to be considered one of your top five (or six?)
– great list, all of these are awesome bloggers and more importantly, awesome people!
Great information, those were some excellent picks! I’m enjoying supporting fellow 31DBBB Challenge-Takers, which is how I found your blog. I’m glad I stumbled upon it.
I’ve been following the 31DBBB challenge, and have to say that this is one of the best ‘list posts’ I’ve seen come out of it. Not that I’ve checked them all… But anyway. Very impressed, and now I have several new blogs to follow. Cheers.
Thanks so much for the mention! I appreciate it a lot. =)
Matt although you didn’t make the top 5 (even I didn’t make the top 5!
) I did really enjoy your I am Internet hear me roar series!! All the rest of you check out Matt’s series http://bit.ly/1aluIB

No problem Jamie, I like the new site looks good!
Hi Luke, I also found your blog through ProBlogger. I’m from Gen Y and our style of working compared to the Gen Xers and Baby Boomers is something I’ve been talking with a lot of people about this week.
Glad to have found you, and a nice surprise to see you’re from New Zealand too! Have subscribed to your feed.
Thanks Kim! Good to see another Kiwi blogger, there are a few of us around but not too many! I have subscribed to yours as well.
Also found you through 31DBBB. Really enjoyed the post and the fact that you spent the time to give background on each of your selections. You have exposed me to some great new blogs (as well as yours!). Even though I a member of Gen X I am always interested in reading Gen Y blogs. Will now be a regular reader. P.S. I see in your BlogRoll you are a Tim Ferris fan – I am too!
Congratulations! This blog has been linked to as a part of the ProBlogger 31 Days to Build a Better Blog challenge.
i love this post and the links to these awesome gen y bloggers! thanks for sharing!
