What is the Quarter Life

Welcome to the first class of Quarter Life Crisis Management.

This class is for those of you who have reached the stage in your life where you are realising that the childhood dreams you built your aspirations on are starting to fade away.

As you are sitting here in this first class of your QLC, congratulate yourself: you have made it this far. At the University of Life we aim to help you (or me) work your way through your own Quarter Life Crisis.

Now a little bit about me:

My first goal in life was to be a truck driver. Why a truck driver? Well, as an 8 year old it was the only occupation I could identify that meant I didn’t need to go to university.

Between age 8 and leaving high school my outlook on life changed and now I am the proud owner of a shiney Bacholar of Commerce from the University of Auckland. Like most Quarter Lifers (QL’s) I am half way to completing a quarter life breakdown.

My employment history after University is one of a true Finance and Insurance professional. I am a Jack of all trades and master of none. If you need someone to sell you Life insurance, General insurance, any insurance or help you with some cashflow finance or open a bank account I am your man.

Currently I have what my parents would call “a good job” working for a Bank, grinding it out from 9-5 or what is really 7-6 and getting paid less than a truck driver.

To sum it up this career path so far has sucked, so I have decided to do something about it.

This blog will track my progress, and work through how I work through the issues that a quarter lifer faces.

Join me for the ride!
