Topics: Financial Advice

Today I thought I would aim for all you blog newbies out there who are reading Confusion Management, and all my international readers.

I want to showcase to show you 4 blogs from New Zealand that I enjoy, and that maybe provide some insight on life in NZ.

These blogs have a range of topics from financial, political and cricket.

  1. Interest.co.nz
  2. The Milford Comment
  3. Kiwi blog
  4. New Zealand cricketer Iain O’Brien’s “Just a Boy from Petone”
  5. Miles Holden

Bernard Hickey on Interest.co.nz . Bernard’s comments are also found in many print publications and on many Financial TV shows in NZ. As a closet finance geek I enjoy reading his commentry on the New Zealand market. His blog is part of the overall Interest.co.nz website, this site provides all the relevant interest rates for all institutions offering loans and taking deposits. A great blog/site for these intersting times.

The Milford Comment. this is usually written by Brian Gaynor. Brian Gaynor, Anthony Quirk and Graeme Thomas are members of funds management firm Milford Asset Management’s investment committee. Brian is especially vocal in his analysis of any fianacial happenings in New Zealand. If you want to build your financail IQ I would recommend reading his stuff and if you don’t understand it, ask someone to explain it to you, cause if he can see it, it might affect you and it might save you some pain in the long run.

Kiwiblog is the personal blog of David Farrar. His blog is very political in nature, his disclosure statement states he is a “classical liberal” he states that - ”On the ’political compass’ test I score +10 (right) on economic issues and -6.15 (libertarian) on authoritarian/libertarian issues.” David has had a long career in both politics and the internet, his commentry is both insightful and relevant, I especially like this post here about An Inspiring UK Labour MP.

Iain O’Brien’s blog on Cricinfo.com, “Just a boy from Petone“. Iain has become a regular member of the NZ Cricket team. He jumps online and updates after every days play! Iain gives a pretty candid commentry on how the Blackcaps perform and the feeling in the dressing room. Great for all you cricket fanatics out there!

Miles Holden is a photographer from Queenstown. One of his specialities is SKi photography, he has recently posted a photo blog of his trip to Tahoe. Some fantastic shots of deep powder and beautiful scenery.

Check these blogs out, they link to others as well there is lots of good stuff out there just look for it and engage!
