As I write this I am in a deep hole. Not really a hole, more like a pit.

The Pit of Procrastination.

I have some work that is due tomorrow, I have nearly finished, but today I can’t bring myself to complete it.

Today I’ve caught up on emails, taken my fiancee to work, scoured Twitter, watched Discovery, slept, and even written this blog post all in the aid of procrastination.

Why?

While procrastinating I have scoured my thoughts as to a reason why…

Procrastination for me is linked to the other things that I need to start after I complete this assignment. The main task for the next 9 weeks is the need to find some part time work while I am in Perth, West Australia.

I have the time, I don’t have much school work to do so I need to take this opportunity to earn some extra cash.

I just want a mind numbing boring job that pays decent (just retail or something), the catch is most want me to stay for longer than the 9 weeks I’m here for. I don’t really want to lie, but in the name of capitalism I may have to bend the truth.

I think I am putting off completing this assignment so that I have an excuse not to get out of my comfort zone, and ask for some part time work. I am used to going to a Recruitment agent and them lining up an interview, and then it is up to me to interview well. This situation is easy for me because I know that the interviewer is looking for someone to hire, at the moment I have no Idea as I walk off the street to ask for a job.

Sometimes we procrastinate because we are scared about what might happen next.

Scared? What have I got to be scared about? Just really some store manager saying NO, its not as though we need the money to survive, to put food on the table. I just have to remember that there are people in this world who are much worse off.

I think the pit is now getting shallower, I can see the light, Thanks to Darren I have even broken my writing drought by moving away from my desk. Now armed with these thoughts I should really get back to that assignment, lets just get it done and worry about the next challenge when it comes up!
